Billingham Hadley Large Shoulder Bag

The Billingham Hadley Large Shoulder Bag is a simple, slim and stylish camera bag. Can carry a mid-sized DSLR or compact system (mirrorless) camera with space for 2-4 extra lenses, including a 70-200mm lens attached to the camera. Made in England with 3-layer waterproof fabric and real leather.

Removable Padded Insert
The flexible, padded insert is made of dense, fabric covered, ‘closed-cell’ foam. Protection is provided on all six sides – including the lid. Like the bag itself, the insert is flexible front-to-back and can therefore fit slightly bigger gear than its dimensions suggest. 2x vertical naviders and 2x horizontal flap naviders are included and can be attached anywhere inside with Velcro.​ The Padded Insert is also removable, giving you the ability to turn the Hadley Small from a camera bag to a casual, messenger bag in seconds.

Expanding Front Dump Pockets
The spacious front dump pockets are perfect for cables, film, spare batteries, lens wipes and those little bits and bobs you want to keep separate. ​Release the pop-clip to increase their capacity or keep the pop-clip closed to use the area to store a clip-pen.

‘Quick Release System’ Front Straps
The stitched, top-grain leather front straps have the ‘Quick Release System’ feature. Simply slide the straps up-and-off the brass ‘clogballs’ at the top for quick and easy access.​ ​Once the leather softens and you become used to it is likely that you’ll be able to open the bag one handed while wearing it.​ ​The buckles allows you to fine tune the ‘fit’ of the front pockets. You do not need to use the buckles to open the bag. 

Discrete and Slim
The discrete styling of the Hadley Pro means that it doesn’t look like a camera bag, which is ideal for travelling without drawing attention. ​The bag is naturally flexible and moulds to the body of the wearer. Its slim body makes it a great bag to weave through crowds.​ ​ ​  

Sculpted Top Flap
The sculpted top flap helps prevent rain, snow or unwanted fingers getting into the main compartment. It is made of the same 3-layer waterproof fabric as the rest of the bag.

Adjustable Shoulder Sling
The shoulder sling is made of strong woven polyester and is adjustable in length to suit your height and shooting style.​ The sling is compatible with the SP15 and SP40 (recommended) shoulder pads – not included.​

Fits:

• Most DSLRs with a medium-long lens attached (e.g. Canon 5D or Nikon D850 with 70-200mm attached). Plus 2 to 4 lenses or a second camera.
• Almost any mirrorless camera with a medium-long lens attached (e.g. Fujifilm XT-4, Sony A7IV, Canon R6, Nikon Z7 with lens approx 20cm long attached). Plus 2-4 lenses.
• Often used to carry two cameras with medium-to-long lenses attached side by side.

Can this bag fit a DSLR with a 70-200mm lens attached?

Yes! It will fit a typical Canon or Nikon DSLR with a 70-200mm lens attached.

It will still fit with a battery grip attached (or if its a tall one like a Canon 1DX) but it will push the front of the bag out quite a bit – in that case you might want to go with the ‘Hadley Large Pro’ instead.

How does the size of this compare to the ‘Hadley Pro’, ‘Hadley Pro 2020’ and ‘Hadley Large Pro’?

The Hadley Large is slightly wider and quite a bit taller than the ‘Hadley Pro’ and ‘Hadley Pro 2020’.

Its smaller in every dimension than the ‘Hadley Large Pro’.

What are the differences between the ‘Hadley Large’ and ‘Hadley Large Pro’?

The ‘Hadley Large’ and ‘Hadley Large Pro’ are the same height (if you ignore the top handle on the Hadley Large Pro). However, the Hadley Large Pro is longer (left-to-right) and deeper (front-to-back). The Hadley Large is a very slim bag while the Hadley Large Pro is a bit chunkier.

The Hadley Large Pro also has a top handle, a wider shoulder sling (50mm vs 38mm), a zipped rear pocket and a partially padded laptop slip in the back. The Hadley Large does not have these (although you can place a 16inch MacBook Pro behind the padded insert – see note below).

Both bags have a removable padded insert. The removable padded insert in the Hadley Large has brushed nylon inside so you can attach the included Velcro® padded naviders anywhere inside*. The Hadley Large Pro’s insert is smooth inside apart from two strips of Velcro® placed horizontally on the front and back walls of the padded insert – this slightly limits where you can attach naviders.

The Hadley Large Pro includes two vertical naviders to let you split the removable padded insert into three columns. The Hadley Large also includes two vertical naviders, however, it also includes two horizontal flap naviders to let you stack lenses etc within those columns – the Hadley Large Pro does not include these horizontal flap naviders.

Do I need a shoulder pad for this bag?

The shoulder pad isn’t essential but can stop the strap from digging into your shoulder if you carrying heavy equipment inside the bag or carrying it for long periods. It can also reduce the chances of the bag slipping off your shoulder if you don’t wear it across the body. Remember only the ‘SP15’ and ‘SP40’ sizes fit this bag. Buying it with the bag will save the postage cost of buying it separately later.

Which shoulder pad fits this bag?

The ‘SP15’ and ‘SP40’ sizes both fit this bag. The ‘SP15’ has more grip whereas the ‘SP40’ has more padding. For most customers we recommend the SP40 shoulder pad.

Can end pockets be attached to this bag?

No. However AVEA pockets do attach to the ‘Hadley Pro’, ‘Hadley Pro 2020’, ‘Hadley One’ and ‘Hadley Large Pro’. So if you need to add occasional extra space those bags might be a better option for you.

Do the buckles make the bag slow to get into?
